Jimi read a lot of science fiction and supposedly based the lyric of this track on a science fiction novel "Earth Abides" by George R. Stewart. As the lyric of 3rd Stone goes... "a spaceship comes to Earth and finds it so lacking discernable intelligence - apart from it's superior cackling hens - that it decides to destroy it.
